The main purpose of a blog is to provide information. You might be thinking that if you are selling laptops, skin care products, or digital cameras then the last thing that you need to provide is information, but this simply not true. In fact, informative articles and blog entries are an easy way of drawing people to your website that might not have visited it in the first place.
Let's say, for instance, that you are selling skin care products as part of your drop shipping business. You know that you have great products and that your customer service policy is strong. However, there are also tons of other people out there selling the same thing at similar prices. So how can you make your company stand out? By establishing yourself as an expert in your field, which is, of course, skin care. If people trust that you know what you are talking about, then they will be more inclined to purchase your products from you and not from someplace else.
One way of accomplishing this is by setting up a blog devoted to skin care. What do you write about? Information that is pertinent to your products. These are not sales letter or advertisements. In fact, these should be very informative entries. You might consider writing an entry entitled "10 Makeup Removal Tips" or "Finding the Best Dry Skin Cream for Your Skin Type." You don't have to write entries on a daily basis, although some people do at first in order to get material posted.
When people search for these things on Google or whichever search engine they choose, your blog will show up. They can read your entries and then be directed to your website where they will, hopefully, make a purchase.
One reason that blog marketing is so good for the drop shipping business is that like the business itself, it has a low overhead. In fact, you can sign up for a blog at Blogger or Wordpress for free. It also costs nothing to link your blog to your company's website.
Search engines love blogs, too. By including key words in your entries, your blog will show up when people are searching for those key words. In fact, your blog might be more apt to show up in a search than your actual business website.
In today's business world, it is important to set yourself apart from your competition and to provide something that your competitors do not. Relevant information, engaging reads, and tips are always appreciated by customers. Not only does it help them feel more assured about your business, but it also makes them more inclined to purchase your products as well.
